Website

Though I’ve unsuccessfully tried it in the past, I’ve decided to bring back the ParsonsFam website.

Joey Wheeler (my brother) asked for details about the reunion, and it occurred to me that if a person is not on Facebook, they don’t have any way of knowing what’s going on. Though I won’t be able to duplicate everything in both places, I can at least put information and announcements here, so it’s back.

A quick note about the pros and cons (ok, really the cons) of using Facebook. When we use a service like Facebook for information such as a family reunion, they own the content. We can include anything we want in the way of so-called “legal notices” that we discovered somewhere on the internet, but the bottom line is that a huge internet platform completely controls the site, and they can remove any of that content, and even any user, at their discretion. Having our own website gives us much more control on what we can and cannot say, as well as long term ownership of content and photographs (if we decide to start colleting them on the website again).

But I digress. The website is back. Content if a bit bare right now (I’ll have the activities page complete within a few days), and I’ve probably made a mistake or two; but at least those not on Facebook can see details now. (Joey, we better see you at the reunion!)

If you have comments or questions about the website, I’d prefer you leave them here. I’m looking for a way to synchronize them with Facebook eventually, but that’s probably a bit down the road.
